How will this affect the state of Himachal Pradesh ?

Jaipur| Priyanshu Bhatt , the child MLA from Kotdwar, put forward his suggestion in the Himachal Pradesh Vidhansabha “Baal Satra” held on 12th June. In this special session, he asked the Himachal Pradesh government to give legal status to hemp cultivation . In his address of 2.5 minutes, he told about hemp and the way it’s legalization will benefit the state’s finances.
Keeping his point, Priyanshu Bhatt said that the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh have given legal status to hemp cultivation. Due to this, the revenue of these states have increased, as well as small industries of clothes made from hemp plant will be established, due to which the people of the state will get employment. On the same lines, Himachal Pradesh government should also consider legalising hemp cultivation.
In his suggestion, he enumerated 4 advantages to the government-
First- legal cultivation of hemp plant will crack down on illegal cultivation as well as the revenue of the state will be benefited.
Second- If the farming is done legally, the farmers who are cultivating hemp will get more value for their farming as well as smuggling will stop.
Third- Many types of medicines and clothes are also made from the hemp plant, due to which it is possible to build small scale industries in the state.
Fourth- The economic burden on the law and order of the state due to this illegal business will also reduce.
Priya Sharma of Digital Baal Mela told that the state of Himachal Pradesh is ahead in cultivation and sale of illegal hemp in India. Due to this drug addiction is increasing among the youth of the state, as well as the youth of other states are also getting attracted towards it. In such a situation, this suggestion can prove to be very effective for to tackle the problem of addiction and illegal trade.
