On June 12, the state witnessed a historic Baal Satra presided over by Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Mr. Kuldeep Singh Pathania. For this special session, 68 children were selected from across the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. These 68“Child Representatives” were seen raising their voices on child issues in Shimla Vidhan Sabha Bhavan.
Ikshita, studying at Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School, Karsog, was also selected for this session, in which she was seen playing the role of opposition MLA. Expressing her concern regarding mental stress and problems in the House, she urged the Education Minister to make provision for yoga or meditation for 10 minutes daily in government and private schools of the state. She said that all the honorable members sitting in the house are aware that there is a provision of prayer before the start of the day in schools, and if this 10 minutes session is added to this prayer, our future generation will have the ability to withstand mental pressure. In this historic Vidhan Sabha Baal Satra, the Chief Minister of the state Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Singh were present as special guests. The special thing about this session was that the children played the roles of Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition , and Speaker, and ran the state assembly for a day.
