On June 12, the state witnessed a historic Children’s Session presided over by the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly – Mr. Kuldeep Singh Pathania. For this special session, 68 children were selected from across the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. “Child representatives” were seen raising their voices on child issues in Shimla Vidhan Sabha Bhawan. Priya, studying in Government Senior Secondary School, Mandi, was also selected for this session and she played the role of Opposition MLA.

Raising her demand under Rule 130, she said in the House that – “ The time has come to leave behind the traditional methods and adopt new modes of education for the betterment of children. The state must take the necessary steps to digitalize education. The education department must work on this using proper internet facilities. Before coming to the assembly, I talked to many children about the education policy and most of these children are troubled. They have to carry the burden of bags, and online education can help resolve this issue.”
