Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao i.e. KCR is the first Chief Minister of Telangana. KCR’s political journey began in 1983. He joined the Telugu Desam Party and contested the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections as A.K. Madan was defeated by Mohan. From 1985 to 1999, he won four assembly elections from Siddipet. From the year 1987 to 1988 he was N. Served as Drought and Relief Minister in T. Rama Rao’s cabinet. In the year 1996, he became the Transport Minister in Chandrababu Naidu’s cabinet.
From 2000 to 2001, he was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly. In the year 2001, he resigned from the Telugu Desam Party and founded the Telangana Rashtra Samithi in 2001. From 2009 to 2014: He served as the Member of Parliament from Mahbubnagar constituency.
KCR was instrumental in the Telangana movement. In April 2001, Rao resigned from the post of vice-president of the TDP party. He insisted that the people of the Telangana region were being discriminated against and believed that a separate state was the only solution.
After the formation of Telangana, KCR was sworn in as the first Chief Minister of Telangana state on 2 June 2014 at 12.57 pm. Rao, a firm believer in astrology, numerology and vastu, has fixed the time for his inauguration as per the advice of priests.
