Some of the main symptoms of this disease include anemia, pale skin, extreme fatigue, difficulty in breathing and irregular heartbeat, high blood pressure etc.
In such a situation, World Thalassemia Day is celebrated every year with the aim of spreading awareness about this disease.
Celebrating International Thalassemia Day was started in the year 1994 by Thalassemia International Federation.

The theme of World Thalassemia Day for the year 2024 is:—“Empowering Lives, Embracing Progress: Equitable and Accessible Thalassemia Treatment for All”.
