Child writer Paras Mali.
Anti-Terrorism Day is celebrated every year on 21 May in India. It is celebrated with the objective of promoting national harmony, reducing terrorism and promoting unity among people of all castes, creeds etc. On this day, an attempt is made to send a message among the common people about how terrorism harms the country. This day is celebrated to create awareness about the violence committed by terrorists and to educate the youth about terrorism and its adverse effects on human life. Why is Anti-Terrorism Day celebrated in India?
In fact, 31 years ago today, former Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated in a terrorist attack. On 21 May 1991, Rajiv Gandhi was in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, where he was assassinated by the terrorist organization Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) through a human bomb or suicide bomb.
After the murder V.P. The Singh government decided to celebrate May 21 as Anti-Terrorism Day. On this day, an oath to eliminate terrorism (Anti Terrorism pledge) is taken in all government offices and other public institutions. Also, anti-terrorism messages are sent through digital and social media platforms, explaining the importance of this day.
