Coconut is also used in Indian and foreign food. The International Coconut Community (ICC), all coconut producing countries of the Asian and Pacific region, was established on 2 September. The purpose of celebrating Coconut Day is to increase awareness of coconut, explain its importance and draw national and international attention to this crop. For years, this day is celebrated to make people aware about the “benefits of coconut” and “what is its use”.
What is the history of World Coconut Day.
World Coconut Day was first celebrated in the year 2009. This day was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Asian and Pacific coconut communities. The main reason for celebrating it was to make people aware about coconut farming around the world and what is its use. The main objective of celebrating this day is to make people aware about “how coconut can be beneficial for a person”.
Currently 18 countries are working as members of this intergovernmental organization, which also includes India. The head office of the Coconut Community in Asia Pacific is in Jakarta, Indonesia. Indonesia produces the most coconuts in the world.
