World Pneumonia Day is celebrated every year on 12 November. On this day, awareness related to pneumonia is spread among people. This disease spreads a lot among children and adults. It is an infectious disease and many children and even the elderly have to face trouble due to its infection.
Pneumonia is a serious respiratory problem, which cause infection in the lungs. When pneumonia occurs, the lungs swell and sometimes get filled with water. Pneumonia is caused by many infectious agents including viruses, bacteria and fungi. This day was first celebrated in 2009 by the Global Coalition Against Child Pneumonia. Since 2009, World Pneumonia Day has been celebrated every year on 12 November with a special theme, so that people can be made aware of this disease at the global level.
This year’s theme is: Every Breath Counts, Stop Pneumonia in Its Track. This means that every breath is important and therefore efforts should be made to prevent pneumonia. To prevent this, treatment and preventive measures should be used.

Every month the child who sends the best article is awarded the title ‘Writer of the Month’ and the winner is given an amount of ₹ 1100.
