Jaipur. Panchayat is the strongest link to democracy. Panchayat system is also the easiest link to connect villages with democracy. Panchayati Raj was established in India with the belief that the pace of development should move beyond the metropolis to the footpaths of the villages. On the other hand, rural issues reached the country’s largest Panchayat, Parliament through Panchayat. To articulate these issues, the Digital Baal Mela and UNICEF are carving out a new generation of aware citizens and honest leaders. In such a situation, the question comes to the mind of many children what is the benefit of joining this campaign? Or why become the “Baal sarpanch”? The answer is –
• To increase child participation in Panchayat.
• To carve future leadership responsible for democracy.
• To increase the knowledge of, rights and duties from childhood.
• To give representation to the voice of the children in the Panchayat.
• To strengthen the role of children by making Panchayat “Baal Mitra”.
• To understand the political system by connecting with the Panchayat system.
Not only this, but Digital Baal Mela will also organize a grand session, in which a child sarpanch from the Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samiti of Rajasthan will be brought to Jaipur. These Baal Sarpanch will represent their Gram Panchayat or Panchayat Samiti and will keep the problem or merit of their village in front of the country.
For your information, let us tell you that even before this, the Children’s Fair has given such an opportunity to the children in the form of the Rajasthan Children’s Assembly. In which, children became legislators and put their problems in front of the country. The opportunity of this program was given to the children by Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Dr. CP Joshi.
