Jaipur. In a Panchayat, there is a meeting of the general public, where the common citizens tell their problems to their sarpanch. Whether the problem is of family, society or it is going to hinder the development of the village. It is also the job of a sarpanch to solve these problems. The problems that usually come from these public meetings are resolved quickly and without going to any government office. But is there any such meeting for children also, is there any mechanism in our democracy that listens to children?
Not yet, but soon “Baal Panchayats” will be organized for children under the “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign. Which will be started from Rajasthan, which has laid the foundation of Panchayati Raj. In which the world’s well-known organization UNICEF will partner with Digital Baal Mela. In these panchayats, children will be made to communicate with their leaders.
Every child will be given a chance to speak, in which he/she will be able to raise the problems and important issues of their village. Every effort will be made that all possible redressal should be done to the demands raised by the children. The role of Panchayat, their राइट्स, and duties will be explained to every child. Efforts will also be made to carve out Panchayats as “Baal Mitra”. With this effort, Digital Baal Mela and UNICEF will work to increase child participation in democracy by making future generations aware.
