Biography

Ramesh Chand Meena, elected from the Congress party, was born on 15 January 1963 in Mandrayal tehsil of Karauli district of Rajasthan. His father’s name is Shankarlal Meena. His wife’s name is Kamlesh Meena. He started his business as a contractor and pursued his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Rajasthan University.

Political Career

He started his political career as an independent in 1993 and faced defeat. After this, he had to face defeat once again in 1998. Even after failing twice, he did not give up and in the 2008 assembly elections, contesting on the ticket of Bahujan Samaj Party, won the Sapotra assembly constituency of Karauli. After this, he joined the Congress in 2013 and once again won the assembly elections from Sapotra. In the future, he was elected as MLA from Sapotra for the third consecutive time, registering victory in the 2018 assembly elections. Following, in the cabinet expansion the government of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, he got the accountability of the Ministry of Food and Civil Supplies and this accountability remained with him till 2020. After this, in 2021, he was given the responsibility of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department of the state.
