Jaipur. A Baal Panchayat was organised by Digital Baal Mela on the occasion of International Children’s Day on 19th November. Children from Jairampura and Rajawas villages of Jaipur participated in this Baal Panchayat. Along with this, Ankush Singh, Communication Specialist of UNICEF India also became a part of this program and addressed all the people including the children present in this Baal Panchayat.

What did Ankush Singh say?

Ankush welcomed everyone in Baal Panchayat program and wished everyone International Children’s Day. He pointed out that in 1989, 193 country representatives had signed the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which defines the rights of children. Since then, International Children’s Day is celebrated. He further explained that rights come from knowledge. When children understand how the government and panchayat work, then they will be able to talk to them properly. Also, it should be the duty while talking to the panchayat that how to find solutions to the problems together. Ankush urged the panchayat representatives to listen to the voices of children and said that the government is committed to child-friendly panchayat and child participation in the coming times. By that, the issues can be brought down to the ground level. With this, such a structure can be created where children can address their points in front of Sarpanches and the Sarpanches can work on them. With this, ‘Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch’ campaign will be able to reach where it wants.
