Jaipur. On June 12, the state witnessed a historic Children’s Session presided over by the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. For this special session, 68 children were selected from across the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. “Child representatives” were seen raising their voice on child issues in Shimla Vidhansabha Bhavan. Srishti Rani Singh, a resident of the Motihari district of Bihar and a student of Banasthali Vidyapeeth in Rajasthan, also reached this special children’s session. In this session, playing the role of the MLA of the opposition, Srishti also gave suggestions to the government under rule 324 of the assembly procedure.
Suggesting the implementation of a new education policy in Himachal Pradesh, Srishti Rani Singh said – “I appeal to implement a new education policy in the state in view of the need of the hour before this house under Rule 324 of the procedure. In this new policy, the government should try to bring the changes suggested by the children. The most important change in these changes is to have practical education in the curriculum of schools so that children understand the practical applicability of the subject along with studying. It is generally seen that many things happen when children study, but they do not understand what is the function of that study in their daily life. In such a situation, there is no justification left for studying the memory. That is why the education department should emphasize on practical education. Along with this, drama/theatre should also be included in the curriculum as a subject in our state. This will improve the expression of children, along with this they will get a chance to learn the art closely. Mr. Chairman, Rang Manch is a good means of all round development of children. Along with this, if the state government is unable to provide online education in all areas, then on the lines of Japan and America, there should be locker facilities for the children in the school itself so that the children do not have to carry heavy bags daily.
In this session organized on International Child Labor Prohibition Day, Chief Minister of the state Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and as a special guest Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh attended. The special feature of this session was that the children played the role of Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition, Speaker and all the posts and ran the state assembly for a day.
