Jaipur: Tribals form a large population in India. According to the 2011 census, 8 percent of the country’s population is tribal. Read in today’s article, who are the tribals and how is their lifestyle.

Tribal;- The word tribals is used for those residents of any area who have the oldest relation with the history of that area. In simple language, the oldest inhabitants of any area are tribals. These tribals are worshipers of nature.

According to social activist Rakesh Devde Birsavadi Jais Birsa Brigade, if seen – “Tribals are the indigenous tribal group of India land which is part of Aravalli Vindhyachal, Satpura, Sahyadri, Parvat Mala, and Chambal Banas Luni Sabarmati Mahi Narmada Tapti Godavari rivers originated in India. Major tribal areas in India:- There are many such areas in India where the number of tribals is very high. In addition to the Himalayan region, the tribals of these regions reside in the eastern part of the Teesta Valley and the Yamuna-Padya-branch of the Brahmaputra under the North-Eastern region. Tribal groups reside in the middle region from the western part of the Rajmahal range to the southern side of the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh and the Godavari river in the south. A large number of tribal groups reside in the western region from Central West Rajasthan to Sahyadri in the south and from the south of Godavari to Kanyakumari. Major tribal groups in the country:- Many tribal groups reside in the country. Of these Gurung, Limbu, Lepcha, Aka, Dafla, Abor, Miri, Mishmi, Singpi, Mikir, Ram, Kawari, Garo, Khasi, Nag, Kuki, Lushai, Chakma, Bhil, Meena, Thakur, Katkari, Tokre Koli, Koli Mahadev, Mannewar, Gond, Kolam, Halba, Pavra, Santhal, Munda, Mahli, Oraon, Ho, Bhumij, Khadiya, Birhor, Juang, Khond, Savra, Gond, Bhil, Baiga, Korku, Kamar, Chenchu, Konda, Reddy, Rajgond, Koya, Kolam, Kota, Kurumba, Badaga, Toda, Kadar, Malayan, Mushuvan, Urali, Kanikkar etc. are groups that have been living in India for a long time.

Culture and lifestyle of tribals:- Tribals mostly live in forests. Their needs are very basic. These people are attached to the forest and are ready to do anything to save the forest. Their basic needs are water, forest and land. Their sources of income also depend on the forests. Vegetables, wood, fruits, meat of animals etc. found in forests are their main sources of income. Before 1951, they were kept in a separate religion, but in the 1951 census, they were included in the Hindu religion. The culture of Hinduism in India is seen in them and they are called the descendants of Sanatan.
