Jaipur |  The issue of children’s participation at the panchayat level was raised in the Vidhansabha “Baal Satra” organized on the occasion of “World Day against Child Labor “. It was raised during the proceedings of Rule 324 by Member and child MLA from Una, Simarpreet Kaur.

Simarpreet Kaur of Government Higher Secondary School talked about the Government of Norway that has child representatives. These representatives are none other than the children, who help the government in solving the problems and particpate in policy making of the state . Similarly, the Himachal Pradesh Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department should also take steps to increase the participation of children at the Panchayat level. There will be two benefits from this, first the future generation will become politically aware and secondly children will be able to help the government in taking decisions related to them .

During this dialogue session, more than 2000 children from schools across the state joined and interacted with the minister. In order to increase the participation of children at Panchayat level , Digital Baal Mela in 2022 started the “Main Bhi Bal Sarpanch” campaign in Rajasthan, under which 10 “Baal Panchayats” were organized in all the divisions of the state.
