Jaipur. On Tuesday, children from all over the country enjoyed Himachali folk songs and learned how folk songs can be preserved. This was an opportunity for the children of Digital Baal Mela under the campaign Baccho Ki Sarkar Kaisi Ho?. An special interactive session was organized as a part of this campaign wherein Himachal’s famous singer Gopal Sharma and musician Rajendra Acharya were present as chief guests. More than 200 children, contenders of the Himachal Pradesh Vidhansabha “Baal Satra” were present in this dialogue session on the topic “ Singing In Local Language- Success and challenges. “
Interactive session Folk singer Gopal Sharma-
At the beginning of this special dialogue session, Chief Guest Gopal Sharma and Rajendra Acharya shared their life journey with the children. Gopal Sharma told how he is keeping the songs of his local language alive in today’s modern era. Along with this, he appealed to the state government for the great need to improve the attitude towards folk artists. The children present in the session raised their questions, asking several questions one by one which were keenly answered by Mr. Gopal Sharma and Rajendra Acharya.
Questions asked in the session –
Question by Mamta Thakur ( a resident of Mandi ) Basic facilities are hardly available in rural areas, in such a situation, how can the skills of rural people be brought to the world?
Answer- Responding to this, the chief guests said that one should search for opportunities only in the limited available facilities. Presently most of the rural areas have internet, in such a situation, social media is a good means of bringing out the skills of rural areas.
Question by Srishti Rani (from Bihar)
Obscenity is seen in many folk songs which negatively affects the children. What do you think about this problem?
Answer- singer Gopal Sharma ji said that just as there are both day and night, colors are both dark and light , in the same way there are good and bad folk songs . And so one hould only look towards the good, ignoring the bad.
It is noteworthy that being impressed by Srishti’s question, chief guest Gopal Sharma and Mr. Rajendra Acharya declared Srishti as the Leader of the Day in the session. Not only this, Achyutam Tiwari (from Ajmer ) entertained the guests and children present in the session by playing flute. Along with this, many children raised questions pertaining to the preservation of folk songs.
In response to this, the guest said that when the society listens to its folk artists and encourages them, then they will get protection. On the popularity of Bollywood and Hollywood songs, he said that if the government provides proper resources to folk artists, folk songs can also perform well at the global level.
Janhvi Sharma, founder of Digital Baal Mela and Priya Sharma, co-founder, were also present during the session. They mentioned that this online session is being organised under Digital Baal Mela and LIC’s initiative Bacchon ki Sarkar Kaisi Ho? The campaign being organized under the aegis of Himachal Pradesh Education Department, a special Children’s Session will be organized in the Shimla Vidhansabha on June 12, in which 68 child representatives from all over the country will participate. This will draw the attention of the government and society towards the critical child issues.
This special “Baal Satra” will be organized at Vidhansabha Bhawan in Shimla in the presence of HP Vidhansabha Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania and Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
Notably in this series of dialogue sessions, the next guest MLA Kewal Singh Pathania will join the children for a live interaction.
