Dr. Damodar Gurjar has been made the candidate by Congress Party from Rajsamand Lok Sabha constituency. Earlier he was given ticket from Bhilwara region but at the last moment his ticket was changed to Rajsamand. Dr. Damodar Gurjar retired from the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police, who has been in Rajsamand Police for some time. Apart from this, most of the time was spent in the police stations of Jaipur, while he has been Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Vigilance team of Electricity Corporation. Presently he is the director of Education Group, which runs 22 institutions.
Damodar Gurjar has also been a member of the Devnarayan Board in the previous Gehlot government. He had contested elections from Dausa in the year 2013 as a BSP candidate. But then he had to face defeat. Since then, Dr. Damodar has been active in politics and later left BSP and joined Congress.
Rajsamand Lok Sabha seat is wide, which includes four districts of Mewar and Marwar, Rajsamand, Pali, Ajmer and Nagaur districts. These eight assembly constituencies include Nathdwara, Kumbhalgarh, Rajsamand, Bhim, Jetaran, Beawar, Merta and Degana. The issue of regionalism always dominates in both the political parties. In such a situation, reaching the vast areas of Mewar and Marwar is challenging for any candidate including BJP and Congress.
