“Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” is a campaign started by Digital Baal Mela to raise awareness among kids of villages about Panchayati Raj in India. The Panchayati Raj Act was established in the country for the smooth functioning of the governance system in the villages of India. For this, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has been set up at the central level as well as at the state level. They have many duties.
Jaipur. There are about 6,49,481 villages in India. In such a situation, the Panchayati Raj Act 1994 was initiated in the country for the smooth functioning of the governance system in every village as well as other works. Under this Act, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has been provided not only in the Central Government but also in the State Governments of all the states. The responsibility of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in the Central Government is currently with Giriraj Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party. At the same time, the responsibility of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj in the government of Rajasthan, the first state to implement Panchayati Raj in modern India, is currently with Ramesh Chand Meena of Congress. In such a situation, the question is bound to arise in the mind that what are the duties/works of the Panchayati Raj Minister? Let’s take a look at them.
Work of Union Panchayati Raj Minister
The duty of Panchayati Raj and rural development of the entire country rests on the shoulders of the Union Minister of Panchayati Raj. In such a degree, various works related to rural areas of the country and their panchayats are the accountable of this ministry. Such as social justice and empowerment, agricultural cooperation and farmers welfare, rural development, health and family welfare, women and child development, environment, forest and climate change, new and renewable energy, micro, small and medium industries, petroleum and natural gas etc. Not only this, other functions related to Panchayats such as Jal Shakti, Tribal Affairs, Social Justice and Empowerment, Agricultural Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, Health and Family Welfare and Women and Child Development are also included in the works of the Union Panchayati Raj Ministry. Along with this, all the proposals related to grant money for the smooth operation of these works and schemes are also proposed by the Union Minister of Panchayati Raj.

Work of State Panchayati Raj Minister
The duty of the Panchayats of all the villages of the state rests on the shoulders of the State Panchayati Raj Minister. In such situation, the State Panchayati Ministry ensures that all the Panchayats get grant money for the works like cleanliness, clean water, education facilities, health facilities, promotion of small and cottage industries, organization of conservation fairs and festivals etc. in their respective villages and all others. The State Ministry of Panchayati Raj also ensures that there is mutual coordination and cooperation between the Gram Panchayats and the Government.
