Know about Indian Renewable Energy Day.

Indian Renewable Energy Day is celebrated every year on 20 August to raise awareness about the development and importance of renewable energy in India. This day also celebrates the birth anniversary of the former Prime Minister of the country, late Rajiv Gandhi.
This day was celebrated for the first time in the year 2004 to promote the use of conventional sources of energy as well as to support renewable energy development programs. In the year 2004, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh organized this program in New Delhi to promote the use of efficient and green energy sources among the public. In which a commemorative postage stamp was released with 12,000 school children forming a human chain.
The then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh planned and organized the first informational campaign to mark this day, in the form of a power station, with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE).
Humans should be far-sighted because only far-sighted thinking gives birth to a goal, for which humans become capable of struggling. If energy sources are not conserved in time, the coming generations will not have enough energy sources. The purpose of celebrating Akshay Urja Diwas is to make the young generation aware of the development and renewal of renewable energy.
For which programs like quiz and drawing competitions, debates and cultural programs are organized for school and college students across the country. Along with this, rallies are also organized with posters and banners to promote green energy use.
