Bharatiya Janta Party has nominated Mahendra Malviya as its candidate from Banswara Lok Sabha seat. Mahendra Malviya ji has left Congress and joined BJP after about 25 years. BJP made him its Lok Sabha candidate from Banswara just 13 days after his inclusion from congress.
Malviya is considered a veteran leader of Vagad region. Malaviya has strong dominance in the tribal area.
Mahendra Malviya ji’s political career has been very interesting. Apart from being a Sarpanch, he was a cabinet minister in the Rajasthan government twice. He has also been an MP once. He was also the district chief of the Congress Party. Apart from this, he has also been the acting president of Tribal Congress Cell. Let us tell you that Mahendra held the posts of President and Vice President in Malviya College also after joining the ABVP organization. In 1998, he became a Lok Sabha MP on BJP ticket. But he later joined Congress.
Mahendrajit Singh Malviya had contested the assembly elections from Bagidaura in 2003 on Congress ticket but he had to face defeat. But in 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2023 he won from Bagidaura Assembly. Mahendrajit Malviya ji was considered among the leaders close to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot ji. He has also been a minister twice in the Congress government. Explaining the reason for joining BJP, Malviya ji said that he is hurt by the decision of the Congress leadership of not participating in the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Being a Hindu and a worshiper of Gods and Goddesses, he found it unacceptable that the Consecration of Ram Temple was boycotted by the Congress.
