On June 12th , 68 children from across the country reached the Shimla Vidhansabha Bhawan.

On June 12th, the state witnessed a historic Children’s Session presided over by the honorable Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Mr Kuldeep Singh Pathania. For this special session, 68 children were selected from across the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. The selected “child representatives” were seen raising their voice on important child issues in the Shimla Vidhansabha Bhawan. Ruhanika Verma, studying in Government Model Higher Secondary School, Kullu, was also selected for this session. In this special children’s session, Ruhanika attacked the government by becoming the Leader of the Opposition.
When Chief Minister Jahanvi answered the question of child MLA Sahil, Ruhanika raised her voice and said- “Honorable Chief Minister, for how long will the government try to make up for its failures? The serious problem of drug addiction is clearly visible to all the members in this house. And in the name of action, our government is putting only one or two smugglers in jail. Chief Minister, how long will your government continue to fool the people of the state with such false assurances? It has become common to see the youth getting intoxicated across the state. There’s no fear among people while talking about the use of injections and smack. And therefore today, parents are afraid to send their children out , fearing a possible drug addiction. In such a situation, the overall development of children ain’t possible. By not taking any action against this , the government is playing with the lives of not one but many coming generations. I demand from the Honorable Chief Minister to take concrete steps in this direction.”
In this session, Chief Minister of the state Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was present as the Chief Guest. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh also witnessed this session as the Special Guest. The special thing about this session was that the children played the role of Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition, Speaker and MLAs conducted the proceedings of the state assembly for a day.
