Lahaul and Spiti is a district of Himachal Pradesh. The district headquarters is Keylong. After the merger of the two former districts of Himachal Pradesh, Lahaul and Spiti, Lahaul and Spiti became one district. Before the merger, the headquarters of Lahaul was Kardang and the headquarters of Spiti was Dankar. Lahaul and Spiti was cut off from the rest of the world because of their high ranges.

The Rohtang Pass at an altitude of 3,978 m separates Lahaul and Spiti from the Kullu Valley. After the inauguration of the Atal Tunnel by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the year 2021, it has become easy to reach Lahaul. This route is open almost throughout the year. The district is bordered by Tibet to the east, the Ladakh region (located in Jammu and Kashmir) to the north and Kinnaur and Kullu to the south.

Due to its altitude, Lahaul and Spiti experiences very cold winters. The weather is very pleasant in summer. Due to the extreme cold of Spiti, even tundra trees and plants do not grow here and the whole area remains barren. In the lowest valley of Spiti, the temperature does not reach above 20 degrees Celsius even in summer. For tourism in Lahaul and Spiti, Kunzum Pass, Kaza Town, and Chandratal Lake, besides the monastery, Cheechum Bridge, Kibber, Langja, Kaumik and Hikkim are very important and beautiful villages to visit.
