On 2nd October 1959, for the first time in modern India, Panchayati Raj was started from Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Now after 63 years, today on October 2nd, 2022, “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign has officially started from Nagaur, Rajasthan.

 

Jaipur. October 2nd is considered an important day in Indian history. Most people see it only by linking it to Gandhi Jayanti, but its importance in the country’s democracy is more than just that. On this day in 1959, the first Panchayati Raj system was implemented in modern India, which started from the Bagdhari village in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Now after 63 years, history has been written once again in Nagaur, and not only Rajasthan, but entire country became a witness of it.

“Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign officially launched

Digital Baal Mela’s unique campaign “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” has officially launched from Barangana Panchayat area of ​​Nagaur district of Rajasthan, today on 2nd October. Digital Baal Mela and UNICEF have joined hands for this unique campaign launched for children in the age group of 6-18 years, with the main objective of increasing “children’s participation in democracy”. Barangana Sarpanch Hanuman Chaudhary, Nagaur district Collector Piyush Samariya and Rajasthan UNICEF chief Isabel Bardam also attended the official launching event of this campaign as chief guests. Isabel Bardem addressed everyone in the event about this campaign and its benefits.

“Shiksha, Sakriyta aur Sahbhagita”

If the main objective of this innovative campaign of Digital Baal Mela “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” is explained in three simple words, then it is “Shiksha, Sakriyta aur Sehbhagita” (“Education, Activism and Participation”). Digital Baal Mela through “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign will help in imparting education of Panchayati Raj and democratic system to the children. With this increasing awareness among the children, their activism in the Panchayat system of their area will also increase. As a result, children’s interest in this will increase and their participation in the village panchayat will increase as well. This will also help in preparing the children as the future representatives of the country.

“Baal Panchayat”

“Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign officially started with a “Baal Panchayat” in Barangana. In this Baal Panchayat, organised for the children, they were given information about the Panchayati Raj system, functions and rights of Sarpanch, functioning of Gram Panchayat etc. The children present in this Baal Panchayat also got an opportunity to tell that if they become Sarpanch in future, how will they work and what changes they will try to bring in the village. Not only this, a “Baal Sarpanch” competition was also organised for these children. In this, some children from “Baal Panchayat” came up as candidates for “Baal Sarpanch”, Live voting was done by other children present in the Baal Panchayat, on the basis of which the winning candidate would be selected as “Baal Sarpanch” from Barangana “Baal Panchayat”. With this process, children will get information about voting and their interest in this field will also increase. Selected children will get to attend state level program organised by Digital Baal Mela.
