Digital Baal Mela’s “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign reached Jawanpura village in Viratnagar, Jaipur on 1st November. A “Baal Panchayat” was also organised for children of the village on this occasion.
Jaipur. “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign by Digital Baal Mela was officially launched on 2nd October to make rural children aware about the Panchayati Raj system. Digital Baal Mela has joined hands with UNICEF for this campaign. So far, this campaign has reached Barangana village of Nagaur, Rajawas village of Jaipur, Kajra village of Jhunjhunu, Rangaisar village of Churu, Rarah village of Bharatpur and after that, it reached Jawanpura village of Viratnagar in Jaipur on 1st November. On this occasion, a “Baal Panchayat” was also organised for children, in which Sarpanch of Jawanpura village and the President of the Rashtriya Sarpanch Sangh, Jairam Palsania and Principal of Government Sr. Sec. School, Sheela Meena attended as chief guests.

Children raised serious issues in Jawanpura’s Baal Panchayat
About 320 children took part in Baal Panchayat of Jawanpura. These children were told about “education, activism and participation” in Panchayati Raj. Out of these, 17 children submitted their contendership for “Baal Sarpanch”. These children told that if they were sarpanch, or become sarpanch in future, how would they work and what changes they would try to bring in their village. These children also raised issues of many serious problems of the society in Baal Panchayat. These problems are as follows…
● Child marriage.
● Fetalicide.
● Casteism.
● Untouchability.
● Water problem.
Live voting was done by other children in this Baal Panchayat, on the basis of which, the winning candidate will be elected as “Baal Sarpanch” from Jawanpura. Elected Baal Sarpanch will get a chance to participate in the state level program, organised by Digital Baal Mela. Second position child candidatw will be elected as Baal Up-Sarpanch and third position child candidate will be elected as Baal Panch.
