Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch: Education Minister Bulaki Das Kalla’s grandson Raghav Kalla’s address on the history of Panchayati Raj

Digital Baal Mela officially launched its innovative campaign “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” from Nagaur on 2nd October. On this occasion, Raghav Kalla, grandson of current Education Minister of Rajasthan Bulaki Das Kalla, also addressed the program.

Jaipur. Panchayati Raj was first started on 2nd October 1959 in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. Exactly 63 years after this, history was once again written in Nagaur on this day. An innovative campaign of Digital Baal Mela called “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” was officially launched on October 2nd from Barangana, Nagaur. A “Baal Panchayat” was organised on this occasion, in which Raghav Kalla, grandson of current Education Minister of Rajasthan Bulaki Das Kalla, also addressed the program.

What did Raghav Kalla say?

Talking about the history of Panchayati Raj, Raghav Kalla said that people across the country see 2nd October as Gandhi Jayanti. But this day is not limited to Gandhi Jayanti only. This day is known as an important day in the history of the country. The reason for this is the establishment of Panchayati Raj. Panchayati Raj was implemented for the first time in the country on 2nd October 1959 for the smooth operation of the governance system in the rural areas of the country. And Rajasthan became the witness of this historical moment. Then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru implemented the Panchayati Raj system on this day in Bagdhari village of Nagaur district of Rajasthan. In such situation, Rajasthan became the first state in modern India to implement the Panchayati Raj system. One of the reasons behind the implementation of Panchayati Raj system on the day of 2nd October was also that Mahatma Gandhi believed that the foundation of the political structure of the country should be Panchayati Raj, so that the governance system in every village of the country could be strengthened as well. Due to this, when Jawaharlal Nehru decided to implement Panchayati Raj for the first time, he chose Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday for this work. After this, on 24th April 1993, the Panchayati Raj Act was passed for the first time in the country.
