Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, popularly known as Chanakya in Bihar politics, is a seasoned politician. Social engineering wizard Nitish Kumar had won the post of Chief Minister of Bihar by fighting the last election on the issue of good governance. Nitish Kumar has achieved the distinction of being the Chief Minister of Bihar three times so far. Samajwadi Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is considered a very settled leader. Nitish Kumar was born in the year 1951 in a Dalit family of Bihar. Nitish’s surname is Munna. Nitish’s father was a freedom fighter.
Nitish Kumar is the only leader of the country who has taken oath as the Chief Minister for the 8th time. In the politics of Bihar, since 2005, Nitish Kumar has been sitting on the chair of the Chief Minister for most of the time. During this period, even though the team running the state government has changed, its command has usually been with Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar was elected MLA for the first time in 1985 from Harnaut assembly seat in Nalanda district of Bihar. Earlier, he had to face defeat in the assembly elections of 1977 and 1980. Became MP for the first time in 1989.

Nitish Kumar was elected to the Parliament for the first time in 1989 from Bihar’s Barh. After this, he also won the parliamentary elections in 1996, 1998 and 1999. In 1990, Nitish Kumar became the Minister of State for Agriculture at the Center for the first time. In 1998, Nitish Kumar became the Union Railway Minister. He held this responsibility from 19 March 1998 to 5 August 1999. From 14 April 1998 to 5 August 1999, he also held the additional charge of the Surface Transport Department. In 1999, Nitish Kumar became the Agriculture Minister. He held this responsibility from 22 November 1999 to 3 March 2000.

On March 3, 2000, Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister of Bihar for the first time on behalf of the NDA. But due to not being able to prove majority, the chair was lost within seven days. From May 2000 to May 2004, Nitish Kumar was first Railway and then Agriculture Minister at the Center. In 2004, he won the Lok Sabha elections from Nalanda and became the leader of the JDU parliamentary party in the Lok Sabha.

Became Chief Minister for the second time in 2005: Nitish Kumar won the majority for the first time by defeating RJD in the mid-term elections held in the year 2005 and remained in office for the entire 5 years. Victory again in 2010: Under the leadership of Nitish Kumar, the NDA won a big victory in the 2010 assembly elections and he again became the Chief Minister. Left the NDA in 2013: Nitish Kumar made Narendra Modi the candidate for the post of PM in 2013 Left the NDA after leaving. After the poor performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Nitish Kumar left the post of CM and made Jitan Ram Manjhi of his own party the Chief Minister. Due to rift with Manjhi in 2015, Nitish Kumar once again took the command of Bihar in his hands. For this, he took oath as Chief Minister for the fourth time in February 2015. In the 2015 assembly elections, Nitish Kumar’s party JDU contested together with RJD and Congress and won big. ,

Nitish Kumar took oath as the Chief Minister for the fifth time on 20 November 2015 as the leader of the Grand Alliance. Separated from the Grand Alliance in 2017. Immediately after this, he took oath as the Chief Minister for the sixth time with the support of the BJP. Nitish Kumar contested the assembly elections in 2020 in alliance with BJP, in which his party got only 43 seats. But despite being a big party, BJP administered the oath of office to Nitish Kumar for the seventh time. Nitish Kumar accused the BJP of breaking his party and resigned from the post of CM, breaking ties with the NDA. Became Chief Minister for the 8th time on August 10, 2022: The very next day after resigning, Nitish Kumar once again took oath as Chief Minister with the support of RJD, Congress and Left.
