Jaipur| The opposition’s attempt to corner the government on the issue of environment in the Himachal Pradesh Baal Satra held on June 12 was unsuccessful. It was pertaining to the question asked by Ms. Aastha, a member of the opposition, during the proceedings of the Question Hour. She asked the Child Environment Minister Paramjit Singh about the increase in the State’s forest area in the last two years as well as the steps taken by the government for the conservation of forests.
Responding to this, Child Environment Minister Parmjeet Singh said that there has been an increase of 915 square kilometers of forests in the state in the last two years. While the state had 37,033 square kilometers of forest area in the year 2019, in 2022 this area has reached 37,948 square kilometers.Along with this, he also told that in the last two years, strict steps have been taken by the government for the conservation of forests and tree plantation campaign has also been initiated. Electrical vehicles are also being promoted by the government.
For your information, let us tell you that these questions were asked by the child legislators in the special ” Baal Satra” organized in the Shimla Vidhansabha. Through this children’s session, 68 children got the chance to raise their voice in front of the society and the government. They raised some pressing and serious issues related to children.

Along with him Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Sukhwinder Singh was present as the chief guest in this session which was organized with the support of Himachal Pradesh Education Department. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Shri Harivansh Singh was also present in the session as a special guest. Along with this Himachal Pradesh Cabinet Ministers and MLAs also witnessed this historic “Baal Satra”
