On June 12th, the state witnessed a historic Children’s Session presided over by the honorable Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Mr Kuldeep Singh Pathania . For this special session, 68 children were selected from across the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. The selected ” child representatives” were seen raising their voice on pressing issues of the state in the Shimla Vidhansabha Bhawan. Una’s Paramjeet Singh, studying in S.V.M.S.G.B.S.S Santokhgarh , was also selected for this “Bal Satra” . He was made the child Environment Minister.
When opposition member Aastha asked the government questions related to the environment, Paramjit said, “In the last two years there has been an increase of 915 square kilometers in the forests of the state. While the state had 37,033 square kilometers of forest area in the year 2019, in 2022 this area has reached 37,948 square kilometers.”
After this, while answering the second question, Paramjit said – “In the last two years, the government has taken some concrete steps for the protection of forests . The state is running awareness campaigns and tree plantation campaign to spread awareness pertaining to the forest-based laws. The use of electrical vehicles is also being promoted by the government.”
In this session, Chief Minister of the state Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was present as the Chief Guest. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh also witnessed this session as the Special Guest. The special thing about this session was that the selected children played the role of Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition, Speaker and MLAs and ran the state assembly for a day.
