Harshvardhan Chauhan was born on 14 September 1964 at Nahan in district Sirmaur. He did his schooling from St. Edward’s School, Shimla. Harshvardhan Chauhan has also been a student of Himachal Pradesh University. Harshvardhan Chauhan, who started politics from the Congress student organization NSUI, has reached the post of minister after a long struggle. From 1986 to 1988, he was the General Secretary of the Student Central Association. From 1990 to 1996, he was a member of District Sirmaur Congress Committee.
In the year 1997, Harshvardhan Chauhan became the secretary of the Pradesh Congress Committee. After this, he has been the President of the District Congress Committee Sirmaur from the year 2008 to the year 2012.
Harshvardhan Chauhan, MLA from Shillai contested his first election in the year 1993. After this, he won consecutively in the years 1998, 2003, and 2007. He has also been the Vice President of Himachal Pradesh Industries Corporation. From 1994 to 1997, he was also made a member of the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board. He was also a member of the Executive Council of Himachal Pradesh University from 1994 to 1996. Harshvardhan Chauhan, who became a cabinet minister, has also been the Chief Parliamentary Secretary in the year 2005. Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu has given Harshvardhan Chauhan a place in his cabinet after winning the election for the sixth time and made him the Minister of AYUSH and Industries.
