Yogi Adityanath was born on 5 June 1972 in a Garhwali Kshatriya family in Panchur village of Yamkeshwar tehsil, Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand (erstwhile Uttar Pradesh). The real name of Yogi Adityanath is Ajay Singh Bisht. While pursuing graduation in Yogi 1990, he joined the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. In 1993, while studying for MSc in Mathematics, he came to Gorakhpur to do research on Guru Gorakhnath] and went to the shelter of his uncle Mahant Avaidyanath in Gorakhpur and took initiation. He became a complete monk in 1994, after which his name changed from Ajay Singh Bisht to Yogi Adityanath. On September 12, 2014, after the death of former Mahant Avaidyanath of Gorakhnath temple, he was made the Mahant of this place. After 2 days he was made Peethadhishwar of the temple according to the traditional rituals of the Nath Panth.

He took oath as the 21st Chief Minister of the state on March 19, 2017 after the Bharatiya Janata Party’s big victory in the state assembly elections. First of all in 1998, Yogi Adityanath contested as a BJP candidate from Gorakhpur and won when he was only 26 years old. He was the youngest member of the 12th Lok Sabha. In 1999, he was re-elected MP from Gorakhpur.

In April 2002, he formed the Hindu Yuva Vahini. In 2004, Yogi won the Lok Sabha elections for the third time. In 2009, he reached the Lok Sabha by winning with more than 2 lakh votes. For the fifth time in 2014, this MP was elected once again by winning more than two lakh votes. The BJP won a majority in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, followed by by-elections for 12 assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh. In this, a lot of publicity was done by Yogi Adityanath, but the result was disappointing. On March 19, 2017, Yogi Adityanath was elected as the leader of the Legislature Party and given the post of Chief Minister in the meeting of the BJP Legislature Party of Uttar Pradesh. After this, in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections held in 2022, the BJP fielded under the leadership of Yogi and won a majority. Yogi was once again made the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

Yogi is known for his tough decisions. Yogi ended the practice of triple talaq in Uttar Pradesh. Yogi was in great discussion against conversion. In 2005, Yogi Adityanath allegedly purified 1800 Christians and converted them to Hinduism. This purification work of Christians was done in Etah district of Uttar Pradesh.
