Jaipur:- The present Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot was born on 3 May 1951 in Jodhpur in the house of Babu Laxman Singh, a magician. Ashok Gehlot is one of the popular leaders of the whole country. Ashok Gehlot became the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for the first time in 1998. Ashok Gehlot is considered reliable of the Gandhi family since the beginning. Ashok Gehlot obtained his bachelor’s degree in science and law and obtained his master’s degree in economics.
Gehlot, who has been active in politics and social service since his student life, was elected to the 7th Lok Sabha for the first time in the year 1980 from Jodhpur parliamentary constituency. He represented the Jodhpur parliamentary constituency in the 8th Lok Sabha, 10th Lok Sabha, 11th Lok Sabha and 12th Lok Sabha. During this, he served as Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Deputy Union Minister of Sports. Held several posts like Union Minister of State (Textiles) with independent charge.
Most people are not aware that Gehlot was not an MLA when he became the Chief Minister for the first time. After this he was contested from Sardarpura (Jodhpur). After being elected from Sardarpura, Gehlot became a member of the 11th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in February 1999 and took oath as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Gehlot was again elected from the same constituency to the 12th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on 04/12/2003 but this time his party Congress could not get majority. Ashok Gehlot became the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly. Ashok Gehlot once again became the Chief Minister of Rajasthan in the assembly elections 2008. After this, Ashok Gehlot won again in the assembly elections in 2018 and became the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for the third time.
