Jaipur. Digital Baal Mela’s innovative campaign “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” was officially launched on 2nd October. This is the first and only campaign of such kind in the country. Its goal is to make the children of the village aware about the governance system at the village level of democracy, also known as Panchayati Raj system. By increasing child participation in the democratic system through “Education, Activism and Participation” (Shiksha, Sakriyata and Sahbhagita), Gram Panchayat of villages can turn into “Baal Mitra Panchayat”. Sarpanch can also contribute significantly in this effort of Digital Baal Mela.
How can Sarpanch contribute in making Baal Mitra Panchayat?
Baal Mitra Panchayat, also known as “Children Friendly Panchayat” is a Gram Panchayat that is accessible to children of that area, gives freedom of speech to children, listens to children in general meetings, considers the opinion of village’s children, ensures protection of children from exploitation and protects the fundamental rights of children. The jurisdiction of a Sarpanch of Panchayat in a village vests the power to ensure all the above aspects. Therefore, a Sarpanch can play a big role in turning their Gram Panchayat into “Baal Mitra Panchayat” by ensuring all these given aspects.
