On June 12, the state witnessed a historic Children’s Session presided over by the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. For this special session, 68 children were selected from across the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. The selected “child representatives” were seen raising their voice on burning child issues in the Shimla Vidhansabha Bhawan. Solan’s G. S. S. S. Shivani Rana, studying in Kanna, was also selected for this session in which she played the role of MLA of the opposition.
Under Rule 324, Shivani presented her suggestion to the government. She said that – “Who is responsible for the loss caused to the general public in the state by stray animals? Me, you, or the administration of the state which is trying to save its people from stray animals. The state is clearly unsuccessful. Dogs, cows, bulls, and monkeys are included in these stray animals which cause a lot of problems to people. Whether it is Shimla or Palampur, there is fear of stray animals everywhere in the state, people are afraid to go out in the streets, we children can neither go to school nor to the playing field carefree. Along with this, these monkeys destroy the crops of the farmers, attack the tourists coming from outside, and also many road accidents are taking place on the highways due to animals.
In this session, the Chief Minister of the state Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was present as the Chief Guest. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh also witnessed this session as a special guest. The special thing about this session was that the children played the role of Chief Minister, Leader-Opposition, Speaker and MLAs and ran the state assembly for a day
