Under the campaign ” Bacchon ki Sarkaar Kaisi Ho?” organized by Digital Baal Mela and sponsored by L.I.C – the state witnessed a historic Children’s Session on June 12th, under the chairmanship of the Speaker. For this special session, 68 children were selected from all over the country, the process of which lasted for a total of three months. “Child representatives” were seen voicing their voices on child issues in the Vidhan Sabha Bhawan of Shimla. Supriya, studying in class 12 of Raipur (Chamba) G.S.S. was also selected for this session.
16-year-old Supriya sent her entry to the Digital Baal Mela, in which she raised her voice against the atrocities on women and advised the government to empower women. She said that when the girls of the house go out to work, then they are respected by the family, whereas when they are mentally and physically abused in the house, then society maintains a stone-cold silence. She urged the government to empower and support women and girls.
In this session, the Chief Minister of the state Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu was present as the Chief Guest, and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Mr. Harivansh Narayan Singh was a special guest. The special thing about this session was that the children played the role of Chief Minister, Leader-Opposition, Speaker and MLAs and conducted the proceedings of the state assembly for a day.
