Kuldeep Singh Pathania, who reached the assembly after winning the election for the fifth time, was born on September 17, 1957, in Chamba. He has studied BSc from Lucknow and LLB from Himachal Pradesh University. Pathania, who started with NSUI as a student leader, is today the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The name Kuldeep Singh Pathania is also known for fighting for the interests of laborers and farmers in Bhatiyat. Kuldeep Singh has been the President of Pathania Block Youth Congress Senior Vice President of Chamba Congress and a senior member of Himachal Congress.
Kuldeep Singh Pathania won his first election in 1985 at the age of only 28. After this, Pathania reached the assembly by winning in the year 1993 and in the year 2003 as an independent candidate. In the year 2007, Kuldeep Singh Pathania once again won the Congress ticket and reached the 11th assembly. Kuldeep Singh Pathania has also been the chairman of the Finance Commission from 2003 to 2007.
In the assembly elections of the year 2022, Kuldeep Singh Pathania has reached the assembly after winning the election from Bhatiyat seat of district Chamba. He got a total of 25 thousand 989 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Bikram Singh Jarial of BJP by 1 thousand 567 votes. After this, he was made the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly in the government of Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu.
