“World Heart Day” is an important annual event, witnessed every year on 29th September. The day is celebrated by organizing various activities and awareness events globally to raise awareness about heart disease and its preventive measures to manage cardiovascular diseases.
The events mainly focus on educating people about the signs and symptoms of cardiovascular disease to avoid any further complications and encouraging them to adopt a healthy lifestyle to prevent and control any heart-related ailments.
More information about hearts:-
The heart is a vital organ. The heart is a very important organ in the body. It is what keeps your blood flowing and your organs going. It is a tireless muscle that pumps more than two thousand gallons of blood every day. The blood that is pumped is filled with nutrition and oxygen (Colombo 7). It travels through your body in less than sixty seconds. So it needs to be taken extra care of. When abuse is put on the body, the heart’s performance is not at its best. The heart is a major organ that needs love and care. Everyone has only one, and by abusing it, they are cutting their life span little by little. People can live their lives freely, but how they choose to live them could be the difference between life and death.
Importance of World Heart Day-
The heart is one of the vital organs of the human body; malfunctioning of it may lead to fatality, so it is very essential for everyone to take care of heart health. Due to lack of awareness about the cardiovascular health and certain lifestyle habits, cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is one of the leading reason for mortality worldwide. Every year, around 1.7 million people die due to cardiovascular disease, accounting for approximately 31% of all global mortality.
Heart attack, stroke, and coronary heart disease are some of the most common causes of death due to cardiovascular disorders. These heart disorders account for nearly 85% of total deaths due to cardiovascular ailments. World Heart Day plays a vital role in creating awareness, educating people across the world to understand the importance of heart health, and bringing other organizations together to actively participate in organizing various events to create awareness.
World Heart Day Theme 2023-
This year, 2023, the World Heart Day theme is “Use Heart, Know Heart”, a reminder call to everyone around the world to take care of their hearts. The theme emphasizes the crucial process of getting to know one’s own heart first, because one can only love and protect what they are aware of. In a world where knowledge about heart health is limited and policies are insufficient or lacking, the day aims to shatter barriers and empower individuals to take control of their well-being. As the theme depicts, when we know more, we can take better care.
