What is State Election?

Priya Sharma.
Jaipur. State elections or assembly elections are the elections held in every state of India. The purpose of these elections is to elect the state government. The state gets its Chief Minister from these elections. Assembly elections are held at different times in each state. The cycle of assembly elections is also of 5 years, which means that these elections are held after every 5 years.
The process of these elections is as follows- Assembly elections are held for the general public, with the help of which the public elects the MLA of their area. These MLAs stand independent or under the name of any party, after which the winning MLAs become part of the state assembly. Only the citizens of that state have the right to vote in these elections.
Assembly seat – The number of assembly seats is different in every stateas the state is allotted assembly seats according to its population. And thereby, Uttar Pradesh has the maximum number of assembly seats.

Election of Chief Minister- The MLAs who win the assembly elections give their support to any one face and make him the Chief Minister. One of the main things of this process is that to become the Chief Minister, you must have the support of the majority. For example, if your state assembly has 200 seats, then you must have the support of 101 MLAs, only then you will be able to form the government.
