January 9, 1915, is a significant day in Indian history. On this day, Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa. Therefore, January 9th is celebrated every year in India as Pravasi Bharatiya Divas. Today, India is celebrating Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) 2026 in honor of those Indians who, even while living away from their homeland, have brought glory to the country. This day is not only a tribute to the achievements of Indians living abroad (NRIs) but also a special opportunity to reconnect them with their roots.
