Dungarpur. Under the campaign “Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” being run by Digital Baal Mela and UNICEF, Baal Panchayat was organized in Kahari Gram Panchayat of Dungarpur. In this Baal Panchayat, the children greatly appreciated the development works of their sarpanch. The children also placed some of their demands in front of the dignitaries of the village. Local sarpanch Rakesh Raut was present as the chief guest in this Baal Panchayat. Sarpanch in his address told the children about democracy and the Panchayati system.
Around 300 children participated in the Baal Panchayat organized under this campaign and submitted claims for the “Baal Sarpanch” competition. There was a lot of enthusiasm among the boys and girls of the village for the Baal Sarpanch Competition. A total of 12 children presented their claims in this competition and highlighted the problems of their village and tribal community. The remaining children did live voting under the ballot box election process for these 12 children .
“Main Bhi Baal Sarpanch” campaign has been launched for children in the age group of 6-18 years, with the basic objective of increasing “education, activism and participation” of children towards democracy at Panchayati level. This will also help in building strong leaders of tomorrow .Janhavi Sharma of Digital Baal Mela said that the children selected as Baal Sarpanch will be called in the state level program to be held in Jaipur shortly .
