Congress Party has fielded Tarachand Meena ji from Udaipur Lok Sabha seat. Tarachand Meena is a retired IAS officer. He is a 2011 batch IAS officer promoted from the State Civil Service. Meena had taken VRS two months ago, even before retirement. IAS Tarachand Meena is originally from Marwar Junction in Pali district. His early education was in Marwar Junction and most of his subsequent education was in Ajmer. He has received education in Hindi literature, political science and economics. Tarachand Meena ji is counted among the close associates of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and because of him he has been given the Lok Sabha ticket. Let us tell you that after selection in administrative service, he became Additional Collector in Bilara Jodhpur in 1996. After this, after holding several posts in Bikaner, Jalore, Sirohi, Bharatpur, Kota, Jhalawar, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, he became the Collector of Chittorgarh in April 2021. After this he was made the Collector of Udaipur in January 2022. After being Collector for one and a half years, he also held the responsibility of other posts including TAD Commissioner. During this period, the BJP government made him APO two months ago as soon as he came to power. After this he applied for VRS, which was approved by the government. He was also awarded the ‘CM Excellence’ Award for his services in April 2023.
