Addressing a media workshop held at the Constitution Club in Jaipur on the occasion of World Environment Day, Radheshyam Sharma, Head of the Meteorological Centre, described water security as the foundation of climate resilience.

He noted that Rajasthan’s water resources are under increasing pressure due to rising temperatures, erratic rainfall, and groundwater exploitation. Efforts are underway—in collaboration with the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) and other departments—to strengthen source conservation, groundwater recharge, rainwater harvesting, water budgeting, and monitoring mechanisms. Additionally, support has been provided to define key indicators for achieving a water-secure Rajasthan as part of the ‘Viksit Rajasthan-2047’ vision. He urged journalists to give prominence to these issues in their news coverage.
